PowerActive learning techniques
Every day afternoon there was some „Spoken performance workshop”. During these sessions we could develop confidence, fluency and spoken accuracy. The focus was entirely on speaking.
The best way to practice English effectively was using active learning techniques such as: group readings, role playing and games. One day we had a kind of poetry lesson. We learnt new words, phrases and improved our pronunciation by reading poems.
Doing group readings is a great way to make reading a social activity. We took turns reading aloud, focused on individual sounds, rhyming pairs, connected speech and intonation patterns in English language. Then we started to walk rhythmical around the classroom together using not only our voices but whole bodies to learn English faster and funnier. At least we were asked to create some new verses for the poem and it was a challenging activity for us. Using poetry was a great opportunity for us to learn language creatively and freely.
